Neil, just to get you started...
I grow my cataloupes horizontally, here in Montreal---(best production was 4
pounds per square foot--22 'lopes on 25 square feet---highly fertile soil,
raised bed, black plastic, vermicompost for the planting area...)
These I did pinch back some.
Vertically I know you need to put slings under each fruit, say made of old
nylon stockings...
There are prolly more detailed instructions out there somewhere's, but
that's all I know...
Cantaloupes prolly call for a pretty sturdy trellis, I'd guess....
Frank---melons on trellises, is not a subject, on which he embellishes,
though pickles on trellises, is a subject he relishes.....:-)
