Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I was always under the assumption that cantaloupe and watermelon were way
too heavy to grow on trellis, or vertically at all. However, I've grown the
smaller Jenny Lind (turbanned melons), and they probably could go up a
trellis if something were helping hold the melon itself. (Pantyhose
baskets?) As for pruning to increase fruit taste, it would be my luck to
prune all but a couple, then have something happen to those few, so I just
let it make the number it was programmed to do in the beginning.
In this same thread: Does anyone know of the type of squash that is
especially prone to THICK flowers? I'd like to try fritters out of the
blossoms, or stuffed ones, and mine are always paper thin, no matter what I
use. I've heard there is a zucchini type that has pretty thick flowers
especially for this but have yet to glean the name. Anyone know?
