Bernie .... if that soil is as dark and rich as you describe, it didn't
get that way from being over cropped but from good farmers taking good
care of it.
Now you are planning to garden far more intensively than they probably
ever did .. that's the nature of the sq ft approach ... all the more
reason to have a compost pile working to restore the earth as you garden
from year to year.
