Actually, I have never had success separating seedlings. However,
I do pot up (ie, take a plant and put it into a larger container.
My problem is when I thin the plants, the plant being taken out is
killed. I just cannot get the hang of gently teasing the baby roots
apart.
But it seems such a waste to start a tomato in a 4 or 6 inch pot. So
I start in cell packs and transplant the whole thing into a 4 inch pot
when the plant is large enough.
