Black Walnut question

Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hello, I just moved to a new place and discovered Black Walnut roots growing
under my future square foot garden. I thought I was safe having it situated
well away from it. I have heard the roots produce juglone, which can kill off
certain plants. Are there plants that can tolerate this poison. Also, can the
leaves and nuts from Black Walnuts be composted. Thanks in advance.
