PLEEEEEZZZEE send the rain our way! It's so dry here that I have to water 2-3 times a week, which is unheard of for Louisiana. My tomatoes and cucumbers aren't producing at all, the lettuce looks sickly and the carrots have tops and no bottoms... I guess I ought to watch what I wish for or we'll be the ones with 21+ inches in 3 weeks...but we sure would welcome a little bit! BTW: update on the rats. Instant mashed potatoes weren't enough of a temptation, evidently, and I'm resorting to poison....sigh.... --Jane Patterson Baton Rouge, LA zone 8b jpatter@la.net --------------------------Message separator--------------------------- I'd love to be planting now that the weather isn't torrid, but it won't stop raining. Today we got 4.5 inches; this week 8.9 inches and the grand total for the last three weeks--21.45 inches. I planted bush beans, squash and sugar snaps on Sept 15 and they are drowning, even in raised beds. I noticed that the peas have powdery mildew on them already and the beans look sickly. I have a flat of broccoli, cabbage and kales transplants, plus elephant garlic bulbs and bunching onion sets I love to set out.
