Since I have only had the "Making Money From SFG" to work from, this is the first I've heard about making the beds 4x4. My beds are 4 feet wide by anywhere from 10 to 20 feet long. I just make row covers that are the same width only longer than if I had shorter beds. I got a Garden Quilt from Gardeners' Supply in Vermont that is 22' wide and it's great. I fanfold it at one end of three of my beds (perdendicular to the beds) and at night simply unfold it over the 3 beds and tuck them into bed. It covers all three beds (one of them is only 3'wide) plus the space between them snicker snack. In the morning I reverse the process, fanfolding the quilt back to the foot of the beds. My biggest problem is that I have a sort of wind tunnel in part of my garden. I have tried making tunnels with hoops and the garden quilting but the hoops bend in the wind, quilt gets torn off. Does anyone have any suggestions? For my next trick I'm thinking I'll try PVC piping and will nail some anchors to the beds themselves. But how do I get the quilting or plastic onto the piping so the wind doesn't tear it off? I'd like to be able to roll up the sides in warm weather. Any ideas anybody?
