Joanne-- Perhaps you could let it compost where it is and then transport the finished (smaller) amount to the garden by wheelbarrow. Or plant your potatoes and/or squash/pumkins right in the composted pile right where it is. I've grown potatoes in bales of hay quite nicely and keeping squash out of the compost is almost impossible for me. > I was a little disappointed in the amount of squares. But start small one year then you'll know much better what you can handle the next. If you get overwhelmed it's a real drag. I know--I've overwhelmed myself more than once. > But, I get the feeling that I will never be able to grow them all. I > also forgot to add potatoes to my list. I live in NH and celery is expensive here. I've grown it in my garden before. It's kind of fun to grow. But, growing it from seed sounds like a pain and around here most nurseries sell everything in six packs which is a problem if you have a very small garden. I've only found one place that sells things in onesies; some few sell some items in four packs. I have a suggestion for you. I grow the herb lovage as a celery replacement. You could grow it right in your perennial garden. It's a perennial. I use it all winter instead of celery in my soups and stews. I dry the leaves; they even look like celery leaves. I highly recommend it. I hope this is of some help to you, Joanne.
