Val,
I have three window boxes of strawberries that i've had for several years..I
mulch with shreaded newspaper and usually do this when it's obvious that the
season is offically over..you can tell when you have no more strawberries..
BTW,I'm in zone 5/6 in brooklyn so i imagine it's not dissimilar weather.
