I have had rats actually take up residence in my out of doors compost. So yes
I think they eat what ever we put in at that time. Which is one of the
reasons I started Vermicomposting indoors in my basement all kitchen scraps I
used to place out in the large bin in my garden? You can trap them and move
them to A new home with a hav-a-heart trap. We have successfully relocated
quite a few this way. We have the smaller Norway rat a brown colored outdoor
living one. Not the BIG gray colored roof rat that carries all the bad
diseases. Thank GOD. LOL
Get yourself a small have-a-heart from your local feed and grain and trap
your rats. and try maybe Vermicomposting or as someone suggested to me just
bury your scraps right into the garden beds and let the worms there have a
good feed.
