Re: HYB: Striking VERY OLD-look seedling #3 (photos 2)

Margie  --  Assuming that the branching is decent, I hope you'll be able to put that seedling on a fast track for introduction.  It would be good to see some beautiful irises on the market that depart from the currently most-fashionable form.  --  Griff

Yes Griff, it is my seedling.  The form is exactly as pictured on those photos - it curves down and back against the branch, is lightly ruffled, and has good substance.  There are 6-7 buds per plant (at least in it's first year).  The other parent is 'Green and Gifted.'

Because the falls curve down and back - - the iris coloring, it's pattern, and beard are displayed and viewed very easily from a distance.

Margie  --  Is that a seedling of yours?  It's gorgeous!  How's the general flower form?  If the rest of the flower is as good as the bloom (never mind bud count), I'd sure vote for it.  What was the cross besides PUCCINI?  --  Griff

This particular iris takes one back to the 1898 era of irises. (the Princess Beatrice form)  And it came about by crossing 2 irises not so old looking.

Out of Puccini came this:  This one is begging to be introduced.  Simply fascinating, great growth habits.  Your comments are most welcome.
