These pictures represent two different types of black irises.  In daylight, it is impossible for the camera to record these irises as black as they look to the eye.  Rather it reveals the dominant color, which in 31-52 B is purple and in 63-75 A is red.  Chuck Chapman wrote about clusters of globules of Anthrocyanin intensifying the color of black irises.  I am wondering if the same mechanism is at work in intensifying the color of red irises?
