Hi El,
I would be happy if they bloomed in the spring for me. Essentially the only SDBs I every had bloom were Cheers and Little Blackfoot. Cheers bloomed about once every 2 years. Little Blackfoot and the others only bloomed once and never again. Of course, no rebloom.
Don't you get real winters in Winnipeg, to encourage SDBs to bloom for you?

The "whenever "
rebloomers are a line of rebloomers that I developed. They can
start to rebloom about a week after they finish spring bloom, and will contiue
periodically until frost.
These include Forever Blue, Forever
Violet, Blueberry Tart, Summer Recall, Autumn Jester , Wizzard Of Hope
.
One year I had a bloom every day on Forever Blue from early May until
very early Nov. They also rebloom in Canadian Ag zone 3, 2 or close to 2
in USA. This means places like Winnipeg Manitoba.
As they don't
seem to require vernalization (winter cold period) they just may cope
with marginal winter situations, and bloom, where others don't.

Hi
Chuck, I don't know which SDBs are considered 'whenever' bloomers.
We don't see many here at all. They grow fairly well but do not bloom
but once every few years. No, I don't have the fridge
space. Jan

Mike has this
combination on his TBs, so you got that.
As for SDB and MDB in
So. California, probably the only way to do it is grow in pots and put
in a fridge for a month. But who has enough fridge space for
that?
Some of the "Whenever " reblooming SDB may manage to
bloom and survive in your climate. More of these coming in the
future.
Have you tried any of the "Whenever" rebloomers
there?

[iris-photos] SDB Seedling- Intense
Chuck, Magnificent! Now when can you get this flower combo
onto an IB, BB, or TB so it will grow here in So.Cal., the land without cold
enough winters?? Do you think that ice cubes would work?

A SDB seedling
that opened today.
Actually, it is more intense in person, if you can
believe. Ring is actually a bit darker, close to brown. So much contrast
camera can't capture it all.
I certaing wasn't expecting this from this
cross. Clever X a bitone purple-rose luminata plicata
seedling with red beard.
