Hello, Keith

Tall Bearded irises do the best in the Phoenix area.  Spurias do well also.  The little ones, the medians, do not do well for me.  I would invite you to join the Sun Country Iris Club to learn all about irises and their culture in the desert.

Some varieties of the Tall Bearded irises do magnificently.  Others have problems in the heat.  We learn those mostly by trial and error.  Most do quite well.  They need deep watering every 10 days to two weeks.  Phosphate fertilizer only, no manure.

I do not want to invest in a lot of money in plants to have them dry up. Please help.. It is planting season now and I have to get going ..
