This I. lactea has quite green foliage. The features that I find very
different are the larger size, over all, and the much earlier
flowering. Maybe
some nomadic herdsman selected it for superior rope at one time?

I hope to get seeds off it, they will have to be selfed as no other
lactea will bloom for a few weeks. The current cold snap may ruin it
tho.
It is much too cold after a very mild April. 27F last night and as
low as 22F
forecast. Many flowering trees have already been damaged. I try to
hope for
the best and plan for the worst, an optimistic pessimist.
