Re: More junos

Nice pix, Sean.  Sorry you got snow too.

I don't grow any junos as yet, but I was thinking about converting one of my nursery beds into a coldframe, mainly for AB's perhaps.

Subject: [iris-species] More junos

Iris leptorhiza and I. willmottiana in bloom yesterday, before it
snowed. I. leptorhiza is an odd little plant - the leaves have been up
since November, and the bud bracts since February. Then it just sat
there doing nothing, even through an 80°F sunny day. I think it was
waiting for rain after a few dry weeks.

What are people's experiences with cold or snow once junos are up?
Just how hardy are the leaves, buds or flowers? I cover mine in fear
with flowerpots if it frosts, but it's a hassle and I may resort to
shoving them all into a cold frame.
