SV: More junos

Hi Sean,

My juno’s can expect night frost until full moon in May. None of my juno iris are covered, I. nicolai is always the first juno to flower (normally in the last week of February), I have right now I. bucharica v. album and a I. magnifica (self sawn along the south faced house wall) in flower, all the rest are all over the ground they don’t care about late frost.

Med venlig hilsen / Kind regards

Nice pix, Sean.  Sorry you got snow too.

I don't grow any junos as yet, but I was thinking about converting one of my nursery beds into a coldframe, mainly for AB's perhaps.

Subject: [iris-species] More junos

Iris leptorhiza and I. willmottiana in bloom yesterday, before it
snowed. I. leptorhiza is an odd little plant - the leaves have been up
since November, and the bud bracts since February. Then it just sat
there doing nothing, even through an 80°F sunny day. I think it was
waiting for rain after a few dry weeks.

What are people's experiences with cold or snow once junos are up?
Just how hardy are the leaves, buds or flowers? I cover mine in fear
with flowerpots if it frosts, but it's a hassle and I may resort to
shoving them all into a cold frame.
