Re: japonica germination

I have had bad germination in unheated greenhouse with my seeds. No japonica seeds in this batch. I suspect temp gets too high and breaks dormancy cycle. I'm now placing seeds in unheated garage and into greenhouse when temp is consistently above freezing. 

I have some japonica seedlings that were obtained from green house at Royal Botanical gardens. They were selfed pods (I assume)   and germinated right were they fell at the base of the plant. Greenhouse is maintined at about room temperature. These seeds did not undergo any cold period and were not covered in soil other then natural soil disturbance. They may have dried out in pod before getting to the soil but could have been in green state. I'll check the plant periodically to see if I can get more observations. The Canadian Iris Society board of Directors meets in a room right next to them allowing me to check on them periodically, as lomg as I remember to do so.

This is the third time ssenfding this. Hope it goes through this time
