Pacific Coast species are not a good group to start with in Zone 5 Indiana, though. Other non-bulb, non-water irises that will flower in shade include cristata and foetidissima. In Zone 5 both would probably appreciate several hours of morning sun.

Pacific Coast iris flower fine for me in shade. Siberians occasionally flower. Bearded flower for a year or two whenever a few trees blow down.
