Hey Chuck, do you have to do anything special to protect your tectorum?
Mine seem to get badly burned in winter.... as does my foetidissima.... but they always come back strongly when the weather warms up. They also set a lot of seed, just from the bees.
I only grow Iris tectorum alba, and it has become quite a large healthy clump in the last 5 to 10 years. Mine grows just inches away from the west side of my house.
I'm on the border of Zone 5 & 6.
