    I believe it would be an excellent idea to try again.
 
    This morning I observed my first Iris hexagona bloom this year in the wild.

During the infancy of this list someone suggested members of this list pursue a meaningful project:

Recording the bloom dates the various species bloomed at different latitudes and the length of the bloom period for that species.

Somehow such a coordinated effort either fell through the cracks or did not generate enough interest to get off the ground.

I cannot imaginine how such a list would not be of great value to all flower children from California pot heads, to gardeners seeking year long color, to bontanist seeking rare exotic species in remote areas of the world.

Should we not try again?

Iris albican opened the first bloom here March 17 in a shaded garden location.

PS: The person suggesting the project was probably Pries. He has a penchant for big long words and the list had a name so alien I can't remember it and am unable to search the archives. <laughin'>
