Would someone like to give an opinion on which
botanical name would be most appropriate for this iris? My decidedly non-expert opinion - it looks similar to "that old yellow" that is widespread in gardens in the U.S., and no one knows quite what variety it is :-) Thanks, Jean -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Dwarf, yellow bearded iris Date: Tue, 5 Mar 2013 08:24:21 +0000 From: Mari Marstein M*@akershusmuseet.no> To: r*@eecs.berkeley.edu r*@eecs.berkeley.edu> Hello Jean! At the moment I am working on a new guidebook for our plant collection at Gamle Hvam museum. I have this dwarf, yellow, bearded iris from a garden in Oslo, and my question is: What botanical name is most correct for this plant? It flowers approximately two weeks later than I. aphylla. The pictures give information about height, coloring etc. Will Iris chamaeiris-group be correct? I hope you or any of the other experts call help me in this. So far we have a "normal" winter here in our county in Norway, but last fall was extremely wet. I had to dig ditches around some of the flower-beds to drain them. I really am anxious about how everything will grow this spring. This summer will be dedicated to raising flower-beds. Greetings from Mari in Norway |
