 You are right, and polite discussion would be a good thing. Climatic limitations are one thing. However, legal restrictions are a totally different issue.Â
 A plant that is illegal for 1/3 of the population of the USA to purchase should no longer be promoted. Also, since some states are banning it for being invasive, more states may follow.

I only have a slight idea what other people's opinions are on this topic, but I think we ought to be able to have a polite discussion about it :) Some of these laws are hard to interpret, but by my count about a quarter of U.S. gardeners can't legally grow pseudacorus.
