Iris hexagona occurs naturally in your area.  There are other 
"regionally" native irises that should thrive for you, if you can 
provide them with soggy enough conditions.  These would 
include:  Iris fulva, I. brevicaulis, I. virginica, I. tridentata, I. 
giganticaerulea, and I. nelsonii.

If you have moderately dry flower beds, then they will only perform 
mediocre for you.  In a shallow pond they would go nuts.  I've been 
posting photos of most of these species during the past week.  I 
should have I. tridentata blooming soon.
