Re: Re: Iris tectorum

I have grown Iris tectorum in my garden in USDA Zone 3a. We do have a reliable snow cover and almost never have a freeze, thaw cycle. We are just beginning our iris bloom....MDBs have pretty much gone by and SDBs are in peak. The most exciting iris in my garden were (drum roll) - Arilbreds! Ok, they are mostly 1/4 bred but they are in full bloom now. They are planted in a 12" raised bed and the 17 days of rain we had didn't seem to bother them a bit.

Why didn't I do this years ago? Try to push the envelope....I have not succeeded with Louisiana's but never say never.
