Interesting comments, Bob. I've never mentioned Dolce, nor awards, in my comments today.
That's because I don't pay much attention to the awards. I certainly don't care to destroy them. Nor does anyone else I know of. So that's quite a strange comment from you if I may say so.
The development of SPEC-X within AIS was exciting to me because it focused attention on something I was deeply interested in... inter-species crosses. Dolce? Alpha Gnu? Chuck's aphylla sdlg? There's nothing "inter-species cross" about them to me. I repeat: "TO ME". They look like irises I can get at my local garden center.
I'm merely expressing an opinion. I have no desire to change AIS or influence their classifications. They're not that important to me. My view is not narrow. Yours is too broad. ;-P
