I like it!  This explanation makes sense!  And it explains why bearded irises qualify as SPEC-X.

But I'm still only interested in the first section.  I like the weird, new, cutting edge stuff.  I have enough bearded irises.  I don't want more bearded irises.  I'm not interested in bearded irises.

Seeing them registered as SPEC-X is not going to sway me.  I'm just going to ignore them and look for the "real" SPEC-X irises now on the market.
