It is interesting to compare the iris system with the horticultural
system used to classify lilies, another large genus with sections that
don't cross easily with each other.

In a lily show, there is no measurement of height.

There is a division for all species.

There are seven divisions of hybrids based on their ancestry. For
instance, Division IV is "American hybrids" - those derived from
species native to North America.

Finally, there is Division VIII "All hybrids not provided for in any
other division"
