RE: Re: SPEC-X

I'd certainly be happy with a Cal-Sibe.  :)  I must think you can grow just about anything in BC.

I'm hoping to get my hands on some OGB, regelia and regeliacyclus hybrid seeds to try.  Perhaps they'll do better from seed, since I'm not having great luck with too many of the AB's so far.  I need to try the median range of AB's, as has been suggested to me.

>From my point of view as an ordinary gardener:

My interest in spec-x is two-fold: to have something totally new and
gorgeous, like Eyelash Iris, or to have the chance to grow something
similar to species that won't grow for me.

For instance, oncos. Even then, I want Arilbreds to look exotic and as
close to an onco as possible. I won't bother with one that looks like
an ordinary bearded. However, someone in Iran who is bored with oncos
might be very pleased to have a bearded-looking arilbred, if she can't
grow beardeds.

Similarly, I see no point in my growing a Cal-Sibe, since Pacific
Coast Iris are my easiest-to-grow. I can certainly understand that
someone in Saskatchewan would be happy with a Cal-Sibe.
