In the Press: Brian Mathew

Greetings.

The most recent issue of the British gardening periodical has a profile of Brian Mathew, with a recent portrait. This issue is numbered 178, but does not carry a cover date.

Other articles of note are one on quinces, of which I have long been most fond, and one on Nicole de Vesian's magnificent green garden in Provence.

The magazine is not what it once was, back in the ten years or so from its founding that I subscribed; learning so much from and about so many interesting people; indeed, since it was purchased by the BBC it has become markedly less sophisticated, less oriented to the cutting edge of plantsmanship and design, which is a shame really, as it did elitist so well and there are plenty of mags pitched for other  mindsets.

In any case, I pick up a copy from time to time, and I picked this one up at the B&N, where you can probably get one, too.

Cordially,

AMW
