Re: Greetings!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your kind words about my writing. I was indeed gratified to find bits and pieces of my earlier writings and ideas still in service.

I have to say I was surprised at how much is still as I remember it. The biggest change is the way internet resources have become more varied and useful. I've been using the Iris Encyclopedia a great deal these past weeks for pedigree research. It's much easier than the books, and the search capability reveals lots of interesting connections.

At first I had the impression that the bearded species I'm interested in had become more difficult to obtain, as some of my favorite growers like Adamgrove and before that Riverdale are no longer around. But thanks to the web, I was able to find a number of Alpine specialists who grow a good range of these, including species new to me, such as I. schachtii.

I am working on updating and revising Basic Iris Culture but your article on Aril culture is practically unchanged. You may not have looked at the Iris Encyclopedia but some of the paragraphs on various classifications contain many of your words. We all lay the groundwork for the next Iris generation and you did a good job of starting much of our current base. I welcome you back, I hope you find the changes that are in process beneficial and encourage you to help moving the society forward. .
