Yes to both! with 4 weeks left to make new roots, it is too late, will do in spring. I have the white repeater versi and  Tet  sibirica 'Coronation Anthem'  CA is the only Siberian that will repeat up here and the white versi also until now, But this seedling that came up in a path and i just let it go for years, has spurred new interest. I have several Sibcolor crosses out of the CA and white versi, but no repeats yet. 2 sdlgs. out of CA have repeated this year, will use them in the future. there is one Versata cross repeating every fall, but having used seedlings, I have no idea where that gene came from.

     If it is too late, I would not mess with even removing a piece of the CalSibe.  Thinking of a reblooming Versicolor, have you thought of trying to breed for that trait?
