Not sure if MOS really contains oil. I'll check on our container at home.
I don't think you'd want to use a soap for cleaning (its main purpose) that
would leave behind a film of oil.
But Anner is undoubtedly correct that horticultural oils would suffocate
borer eggs. The problem would be getting the oil on the eggs in an
effective manner. The eggs are few in number and are laid on debris on the
ground.
By the way, I suspect that MOS or any other insecticidal soap would kill
nematode bennies, so might not make a good combination. Anyone have any
information on this? I will pose the question to a nematologist friend.
