Hello Folks,
>He probably deserves a purple heart for being attacked by two mounds of

Well, Rosalie, I think these stings may be more aggravating than the
copperhead bite year before last. However, I think visitors will be safe
from both unless they are compulsive weeders (is there such a person?).
Neither one were as bad as the Dallas traffic. I've grown increasingly
rural here in my habitat and a country town far away from the big cities
doesn't make for good practice for city driving. I need to be a blindfolded
passenger, I think.
The irises were nice. Wish mine would get as tall, but they know better
'cause I'm sure our winds would take them right over. I spotted LEMON
CHESS from thirty feet away. I didn't know it was that distinctive and
was surprised to find myself correct. I also spotted PACIFIC BELLE
which is currently in bloom here. Even more of a surprise that I could
recognize it. They'll be serving iced tea and beer to the inmates in Hell
before mine ever gets that tall and grand. Does have a pretty flower and
nice branching, but is about 28" here compared to 4' in Dallas. I also
found myself more selective than I would have thought. I wrote down
one seedling number and there were only two more I would have written
down but was in too big a rush. I memorized a name and came home
and added it to the wish list (found it offered in a catalog too!). Still,
if I'd had more time there might have been more. But essentially while
there I focused on encroaching Bermuda grass.
>All he has gotten so far is my profound thanks.
Pat knows very well that she should have had several more hours worth
of labor out of me. I did, unfortunately, see a good bit more of Dallas
than I'd planned on seeing - a great deal of the view was of unending
vehicles on the move. Seemingly I can't watch the traffic and road signs
at the same time. Is that like chewing gum and typing?

Texas Zone 7, USA and I look to be several weeks or more behind Dallas
in my own bloom. LADY FRIEND is not yet at peak bloom and BUSY
BEING BLUE is not yet finished. Both have been among the earlier TBs
here. But then I'm not going to have the bloom this year that I had last
year.
Our disagreeable weather started it's latest spell before the iris season
was finished last year and everything that depends on roots for survival is
showing the effects. No letup promised soon, either.
