Last year, I ordered some more historics that show up in pedigrees of
many irises that do well here - so far, PINK FORMAL is the only iris
(historic or otherwise) to rot this year (KNOCK 'EM DEAD turned gray and
puked the minute it got here - I think it was scared to death).
Not sure if PINK FORMAL has crown rot or soft rot, but I pulled away all
the rotten foliage and it still has one living fan. It had put on good
increase and growth over the winter, but clearly is not happy here.
Anybody else grow this one with similar results?
Probably not the best time to post with so many off to the Dallas
Convention, but I'm afraid I will forget.
Iris foliage that looked so gorgeous a few weeks ago is now really yucky
looking - freeze damage and stress with subsequent leaf spot and
generally malaise. Not many stalks coming along yet, but it's still
early.
