What I was trying to suggest was, that the number of returns from a simple
search of the Checklist DB will be quite large due to the "keyword" effect
(searching all fields). Especially when ALL the checklists are entered.
That's like a bizillion Iris. Every relative with a fragment of the search
name will be returned with no particular relevance (alpha).

Out of our 20 or so club members, only one has any deep interest in
parentage, hybridizing, etc. (I'm not suggesting that it's a bad thing,
just that it's not everybody's thing). Most of us just want one of every
Iris known to man ... and hope to be able to recognize them by name.

I surveyed the club at our meeting tonight and every one was in favor of a
make, model and color search ... i.e. Enter a name or part of a name and
get Iris with the search word in the name, returning Year, Hybridizer and
color. Then you could go further with the checklist if you wanted.

Or, just link back the Name search result to the appropriate record in the
Checklist. Seems like the easiest way, the more I think about it.

Sometimes when I type, my thoughts sound clear as mud.

I guess in the end I'm just suggesting that it would be a good thing if
there were a product for both worlds. Iris and AIS need "all kinds of
people", and we're not all Hybridizers, biologists, and retailers.

Peace,
Shan
