CULT: bloom report

MTBs IN FASHION and BANGLES continue to be the only ones that amount to
much here - since I killed LADY EMMA. Crossed the last fresh pollen I
could find from cristata on IN FASHION (hopefully it's a dip.)

A few IBs open, looking pretty mangled from that late freeze. One plant
of AGATHA CHRISTIE has a couple of fairly normal looking blooms open on
two stalks on a one year plant (thanks Mike). She's cute. PRINCE OF
BURGUNDY is open but damaged. The tops were trashed on HONEY GLAZED but
a couple of lower buds opened normally and are really pretty. FANTASTIC
BLUE (so nice to know its name!) has put on a nice show - short, but
most blooms normal).

Among the TBs, one of the non-descript pallida X children has a bloom
open and the nice bitone red/lavender (I'm terrible at colors) that
Kathryn Mohr swapped me the first year of iris-list has made a nice
clump. Looks like JESSE'S SONG got frozen out - not a sign of a stalk
on it.

Early stalks on IMMORTALITY got killed but she has sent up a bunch more
stalks. BUCKWHEAT has three normal looking stalks about to open blooms
- this one usually hasn't done much. And GOLDEN ENCORE which usually
blooms on stalks about a foot tall has stalks that look to be close to 3
ft (desperate to get above the weeds, I suspect <g>).

The clumps of 'Mart 'PORTRAIT OF LARRIE' are about to open - looks like
it will be a nice mid-blue.

As Sharon M sez, it seems to depend both on the cultivar and exactly
what stage of development it's in when it gets frozen as to whether the
blooms will be affected or not. Hard to predict.
