Re: iris disease or virus

Thank you for your reply...I did not know if I was dealing with
disease, virus, or me being particularly clueless on a common
problem. (According to the archive info pineappling is somewhat
common in central Texas.) I have read through the archives which
Walter Moores directed me to and have learned alot in the past hour!
I will follow your advice, removing the affected fan, and will also
amend the soil around the afflicted rhizome as per the treatment
suggested in the archives. Hopefully this will solve the problem and
let my iris return to its previous form! Thank you again for your
help.

I wasn't aware "pineappling" was a virus, but it doesn't seem very
contagious if so. I generally break off any pineappled foliage at
the rhizome, so the plant will grow new incease and not waste vigor on
trying to grow the pineappled fans.  Those fans never seem to recover;
the increase is usually fine.
