That is my goal, Neil. I want a deep coral pink like Beverly Sills in a large, tall flower that multiplies well and resists the hot weather problems of pineappling, balding and bloomout. I am working on acquiring breeding stock and Happenstance is now at the top of my want list for this year.
Francelle Edwards in AZ, valley of the sun, where we are holding our iris show this weekend and I just won Best of Show for the fourth time in a row with Smiling Gold. There were hundreds of irises there, so I should feel honored. Instead I feel slightly ridiculous, especially as I put in that last stalk of Smiling Gold as an after thought and only entered eight stalks altogether. I also got blue ribbons on Abigail Nicole, Mountain Violet, and Noreen's Delight.

If someone were looking for a project, maybe TB pinks with color
depth along with broad climate tolerance, branching, bud count, etc.
would be a worthy goal. Just out of curiosity, which pink lines have
been the most/least problems for folks?
What few I have on hand are from Gatty/Keppel and Niswonger
breeding. These have thrived here in North Carolina so far. I
acquired Happenstance last year and hope to see bloom next month. It
seems to have the gamut of qualities, and hopefully might be a great
breeder.
