I know this is WAY off topic, but I just learned that in order to get
complete protection, tetanus boosters are needed within 24 hrs, which is
the incubation period for the disease, unless one has had a booster shot
within the preceeding 5 yrs. Especially if the wound is too deep to
keep it open with soaking, peroxide, antibiotic ointment, etc. After
that, the booster may or may not help & there is no treatment & can be
fatal. So I should have gone to the emergency room since I wasn't sure
when I'd had my last booster. Good news is I would have been having
symptoms of muscle rigor by the next day if I'd not been ok. So we
decided that with my lifestyle, I better get a protective booster every
5 yrs or so just to be safe.
Given the number of folks onlist who've shared puncture wound stories
with me, I figure this is of enough general interest to post.
