BULB: Widow's Iris

Local grower has a bulbous iris which was given to her.
It was only described as "Widow's Iris". It has thin
leaves, and a small black flower. Does anyone have any idea
as to the real name and cultural conditions? She said it
has only bloomed once in ten years.
