Interesting. Most people in region 7 seem to have good luck with STH, but in
my garden it cries and sobs and refuses to grant more than one stalk per
season and is quite miserly with increases. Only three feet away, its
sibling, STRICTLY BALLROOM, is growing and blooming her little head off.
Maybe STH would take off if I threw it over in the ditch on top of the grass!
It's a good thing I didn't have this year last year. I probably wouldn't
have gotten interested in hybridizing again. <sigh> I've a lot more bloom
stalks in the select seedling bed, but most are short a branch. Last years
pretty is this years 'ho hum'. Last years dogs look much better than last
year. All classes are blooming at the same time (sorta) and the whole season
is too early. This years seems to be a great equalizer. Everything is
equally unimpressive. Maybe I'm just tired.
