Hi, everybody,
I just set out my first two pots full of seedlings for this year, 80 in all, all seedlings of Mariposa Skies with about 80% germination. My heart feels good at getting them into what will be their home for a couple of years, but my back feels miserable. I'm sure that if I had a couple of thousand ( and I wish I did.) I wouldn't give each of the little darlings all the tender, loving care that I lavished on them today, digging a hole for each one. firming the ground around it with my fingers, watering it in with a cupful of starter solution, and carefully adjusting it to just the right depth.
How do you more experienced pollen daubers plant your seedlings into their permanent beds? I have never seen any discussion of this, and I could use some help as I have at least 18 more pots to go.
I apologize for feeling sorry for myself when some of my favorite crosses weren't showing up. I really felt bad for all of Donald's problems, and others have much worse woes than mine. In fact most of my seedling pots are getting greener by the day. I have bloom stalks starting in nearly everything and Mountain Violet, Be Mine, Golden Raspberry, Valentine's Day, Pacific Belle, Do Wa Diddy, and White Lightning are all in bloom. Even with temperatures in the 90s everyday, it's a beautiful spring.
