Got a real nice stalk coming from that fabulous parent Louisa's Song. An
early bonus, the old mother rhizome (despite no remaining foliage) is
sending up a "partial" stalk that should open the first big flower tomorrow.
No pollen will go to waste. I haven't been able to break through my
schedule and really get down to crosses yet this year; many of my early
things are past their peak but my new beds are just getting started. I'll
wait for a good home for the pollen, but in the other direction my options
are limited. Candidates include Best Bet (minimal pollen); Yaquina Blue;
Double Dribble (would it be hafty?); Afternoon Delight; Cloud Ballet; and
(if it hurries up) Chasing Rainbows. Best Bet and Cloud Ballet may be the
top choices.
