Hymenocallis occidentalis (Western Spider lily) blooms with the
TBs and is just starting to bloom now. The bulbs are as large as
coconuts.
Hymenocallis calathina (Peruvian daffodil or Ismene), essentially
the same bloom as the WSL, blooms in July here. The bulbs are
smaller than amaryllis bulbs. It's nice to have these two bloom in
separate seasons.
Walter Moores
Enid Lake, MS USA 7/8 (NMLIS has decided to cancel its show
because of lack of bloom).
