<Folks....never, ever, ever lurk through Linda's garden. She seems kinda
handy with that bushwhacker tool. :)
 I have used one of those to divide shrubs with dense rootballs, like
spirea and potentilla. It gets my vote.  John Bruce

ahead of me.  Besides, the watch horse gallops to the front gate and
keeps people out by refusing to move - a bit hard to lurk <g>.

The first one of these gadgets I tried to use was definitely made for
somebody with a lot more upper body strength than I have.  Heavy handle,
and much heavier bush blade.  Exhausting to use.  They make a nice
'girl' weight one now that has a couple of advantages - the thinner
blade is lighter, therefore easier to handle and easier to sharpen.

Works great to divide dense Siberian roots also.  Doesn't work well on
rocks or barbed wire :-(
