Re:HYB: yellow from IMM??

The yellow is not from Immortality, but from the other parent.

A pink is a yellow that has the four t genes which block the conversion of lycopene to beta-carotene. Thus

pinks are actualy yellows genetically, with the addition of ttttt .

?Any pink crossed to a white will produce some yellow seedlings (depending on other genetics) as yellow

is a dominant gene.

Same thing with a purple, as most purples are a combination of anthocyanin and yellow. The seedlings

?where anthocyanin is inhibited will have the yellow gene from the purple, hence the yellow seedling.

Surprise in the seedling patch - IMMORTALITY X dark purple seedling:

(DUSKY CHALLENGER x GRAPE ICE).

Color is just starting to show on maiden bloom, and it is strong yellow.

  I sure wasn't expecting that!

Siblings that bloomed last year were 4 dark purple selfs, one dark

reddish purple neglecta, and one white.

Yellow and purple are the two default colors in my seedling beds. Usually

the ugly shades. Immortality routinely gave pale yellow when crossed with

pinks, but I don't remember getting a yellow of any shade when crossing with

purple.
