Scott,

There's been a thread on the desirability of ordering from an iris
garden / grower near one's home, in the hopes that said iris will
adapt better to one's home environment, and also in the hopes that
the grower will have weeded out many iris cultivars or species
that are difficult to grow in one's area.  Of special emphasis
is the hypothesis that "big fat West Coast rhizomes" are, while
quite nice and large, also very well hydrated which might lead
to rot in more humid (in the summer) parts of the country, 
including much of the US east of the Rockies.

So, most folks are not geographically challenged WRT where
Aitken's is, but rather saying that NW irises are doing well
in the NE, which is a great compliment.
