Yes, I have grown I. douglasiana and I. tenax from seed.  Douglasiana did
o.k, but I have lost it now.  In my previous message I was referring to the
modern hybrid PCNs rather than the species.  The only 40 chromosome Siberian
that ever flourished for me was VARIED BUNTING, and after 4 years up and died
(a huge clump all died!). (I have kept I. forrestii and wilsonii alive for a
couple of years, but never flowered them.)  I have read and been told that
this is not an unusual experience with these type except in very specific
locations, e.g. Pacific Northwest.   As for the Cal-Sibes, I have tried a
number of times but have not succeeded more than a year. Clarence Mahan in
