Iris or Not?

    I know of a lady who has growing by the front door of a house she
rents out what looks like some kind of an Iris. It grows via a
rhizomes, [I hope that's right] like Iris's I've seen in S.Calif. The
leaves are long and thin, the flower is small, no bigger than a dime. I
will try to get a photo of it and am going to ask if I can get some of
the clump to try and grow it myself. The flower is a white/blue combo.
I know this isn't much to go on, but does this sound like some kind of
an Iris?
